Saint Valentine supplanted an existing pagan rite to erase the previous festivities of Lupercus, Roman deity of sexual potency, related to the god Pan, the lustful goat. Pope Gelasius I decreed the celebration of the tale of the priest who marries soldiers despite an imperial ban. Thus, on Valentine's Day an empty social convention is enshrined. In the XIX century, the celebration incorporated Cupid, and marketing was launched. Just celebrate making love like fauns until their lungs pop out.
